It took me 10 years to share these photos. I did this boudoir photoshoot when I was pregnant with Ethan.

It’s funny because I didn’t even know what boudoir photography was. I was shopping at a mall and when I returned to my car, someone had put an envelope under my windshield wiper. I opened it, and it was a gift certificate for a maternity boudoir photoshoot for $1,000. The note said “Hi, I saw you were pregnant so I’m leaving you this gift certificate. My husband bought it for me, however I never got the chance to use it because my baby came 6 weeks early. So I hope you can use it.”

I thought it was a scam at first. I contacted the photographer, Michael Jones, who verified it was a gift certificate he issued. He approved me to use it after he contacted the original buyer.

So we set up a date for him to do the photos around my 8 month of pregnancy. I didn’t have the money to pay extra for the studio rental on one of the more expensive packages, so I settled on doing them in my tiny apartment in Orlando. That’s really my only regret. Well, that and I lost the original digital images that looked so much better than these scans. Thankfully I purchased the prints, as I was able to scan them with my scanner to use here, although they don’t look as good as they could.

These photos have a special place in my heart, because shortly after I gave birth to Ethan, I found out I wouldn’t be having any more children. So these images represent my only pregnancy I will ever experience. I’m so glad I have them, to look back and enjoy the moment.

I was only 22 years old at the time. So young. I remember thinking these photos probably will turn out so bad because I felt so heavy. But when got them I was like wow, I look so sexy. I didn’t feel sexy, but I looked the part, I guess. I actually didn’t show the photos to my husband until 6 months after Ethan was born. Not sure why, I think I was a little embarrassed. But he actually loved them and wished at had shared them sooner. He said “dang you look HOT!” But he says that all the time lol.

So, I’m going to share some of the photos. I’m not going to share all of them, just a small sample of the ones I like the best. I wish you all could see the real digital ones because the color was so much better and more clear. I asked the photographer if he had extra copies and he said he deleted them years ago, as he only keeps them in his files for 1 year. Oh well.

If you are on the fence about doing a maternity boudoir session, just do it. You might regret not doing it someday. You never know what life will throw at you.
