Comments
When visitors leave comments, we collect the information shown in the comment form along with the visitor’s IP address and browser details to help us detect and prevent spam. An anonymized version of your email address (called a hash) may be shared with the Gravatar service to see if you’re using it. The Gravatar privacy policy can be found at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture (if any) becomes visible to the public alongside your comment.

Media
If you upload images to the site, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images posted online.

Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience so you don’t have to re-enter them the next time. These cookies last for one year.
When you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to test if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie doesn’t store personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
If you log in, we’ll set cookies to remember your login details and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days (or two weeks if you select “Remember Me”). Display preference cookies last for a year. Logging out clears login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, a cookie will be stored in your browser to record the article ID you edited. This expires after one day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (like videos, images, or articles). Embedded content from other sites behaves the same way as if you visited those sites directly. These external sites may collect data, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content—especially if you have an account and are logged in to those services.

Who We Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How Long We Retain Your Data
Comments and their metadata are stored indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-ups automatically instead of holding them for moderation.
For registered users, we store the personal information provided in user profiles. All users can view, edit, or delete their information at any time (except for usernames). Administrators can also view and edit that data.

Your Rights Over Your Data
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including data you’ve provided. You can also ask us to erase any personal data we hold, except information we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
